Historically, concrete leveling has been completed through a process called mudjacking in which a slurry of mud and concrete is pumped below the surface of a sinking slab. Unfortunately, concrete is heavy, so the extra weight of the mixture tended to create additional sinkage over time. At Van Matre, we use the latest concrete leveling technology to lift and level sinking slabs without the addition of all that extra weight. Polyjacking is a process that’s very similar to mudjacking with one key difference: the substance used. We pump an expandable polyurethane foam below the surface of uneven concrete instead of the traditional concrete slurry. As it expands, it presses upwards on the bottom of the slab to push it back toward its original position. Once hardened, it provides necessary support for your concrete, and instead of weighing approximately 100 lbs. per cubic foot like the concrete slurry used in mudjacking, our material weighs just about 2 lbs. per cubic foot!
