I'm Brady Van Matre, founder and owner of Van Matre Construction. I've worked on Colorado's Front Range since September 2001, and today I lead a 22-person team focused only on permanent structural and drainage solutions.
What sets my work apart isn't a single credential. It's the 15 to 20 years I spent building whole houses before I ever called myself a foundation contractor.
From Full-Spectrum Builder to Colorado Foundation Repair Specialist
I started out building and remodeling homes in the Boulder area, long before foundation repair was my focus. That full-spectrum work taught me how a house behaves from the footing to the roofline.The shift happened gradually. Structural engineers began sending me their hardest jobs, I was good at solving them, and by 2013 foundation and drainage work was all I did.
My background isn't academic. It comes from deconstructing and rebuilding houses from the 1800s up through recent construction, and from watching how building practices changed across every decade in between.

Why That Changes the Diagnosis
Foundation problems rarely stay in the foundation.

A contractor who has never framed a wall or built a roof can walk right past those signals. I read a whole structure because I built whole structures, and that leads to a more accurate diagnosis and a more targeted repair.

Why I Won't Install Push Piers in Colorado Soil
This is where I part ways with most of the industry. I don't install push piers or resistance piers anywhere on the Front Range. Colorado's soils don't support them reliably, and I've spent years correcting jobs from contractors who used them anyway.
One example stays with me: a garage still moving five years after another company's push piers went in. The homeowner had paid for a fix and watched the problem continue. That isn't bad luck. It's the predictable result of the wrong method in the wrong soil.
Here's what I install instead:
- Limited-access micropiles for tight sites that need deep, stable bearing
- Drilled piers where the structure and soil call for them
- Helical piers where the soil profile supports them
All three reach stable material below the expansive clay that drives most structural movement on the Front Range. They're the gold-standard, engineer-preferred methods, and I stand behind every one I put in the ground.

If a client asks for push piers because they cost less, I'll decline. That isn't a sales position. It's a professional one.
How the Repair Actually Works
Every structural repair I do follows a stamped, engineer-designed plan. The piers are set past the problem soil to reach load-bearing material below, and nothing gets substituted along the way.
I work only with independent, third-party structural engineers. Van Matre Construction doesn't keep engineers in-house, and that's deliberate: the engineer designs the repair, and I execute it precisely.
