After your foundation has been repaired, our reinforcement services may be necessary to prevent recurring damage. Our foundation repair and reinforcement specialists in Denver will make a thorough assessment to decide which reinforcing measures should be applied to your foundation, foundation walls, basement, crawl space, or other areas that may affect your foundation’s structural integrity.
Conditions for Reinforcement Services
Apart from the fact that your home is in Colorado, a state that has foundation-damaging, clay-rich soil, other conditions warrant utilizing our Denver foundation reinforcement services, such as:
- Erratic weather
- Seasonal changes in hydrostatic pressure forces from the soil
- Winter frost
- Possible disasters like earthquakes, hurricanes, and tornadoes
- Drainage problems
- Tree roots growing close to your property
The Warning Signs
The most obvious sign that your crawl space needs repairs is when the floors begin to sag. There are other signs, however. These include:
- Mold or moisture damage in the crawl space
- Musty odor in living areas
- High humidity in living areas
- Condensation on A/C ducts or equipment
- Condensation on water pipes
- Condensation on insulation
- Insect infestation
- Uneven floors
- Wood rot on floor framing
Foundation Reinforcement Services
Apart from our wall anchors, we offer other foundation-bolstering services such as:
Carbon Fiber Reinforcement – These are pre-laminated strips or wide strips of fabric that can reinforce structures like basement walls. Quick and easy to install, these strips can serve as a buffer against pressure exerted onto your poured concrete or brick walls by active soils. They can also be painted over to match your basement’s color palette.
Tree Root Barrier – These are thick metal or plastic barriers we can place over your foundation walls to deflect tree roots, and prevent them from exerting more pressure.
Helical Piers – These piers can stabilize slopes or secure a home’s foundation by providing a more stable anchor. Helical piers are placed under failed footings, which are raised and exposed. The foundation is reinforced by having the footings, piers, and the building secured together with a bracket.
Push Piers – While Push Piers may be a great tool for some locations, the soil conditions on the front range prohibit the responsible use of this technology. Push piers, or resistance piers, cannot penetrate Colorado’s dense, expansive soil layers well enough to reach the depths we need to guarantee the permanent stability of your home. While push piers save money, Van Matre installs helical piers for the same price the ‘other guys’ install push piers. There are no soil conditions where a push pier outperforms a helical pier and many soil conditions where a push pier is too risky to use. Because of this, Van Matre will not install push piers.
