A plainspoken look at why Boulder foundations move, the engineered methods that hold, and how to tell when it is time for an assessment.
Van Matre Construction has launched an updated Boulder foundation repair page. It is built for homeowners and structural engineers who want straight answers about why foundations move in Boulder soil and what it actually takes to fix one for good.
Boulder's expansive clay and bentonite soils swell when wet and shrink when dry, and that constant movement works against a foundation year after year. Freeze-thaw cycles add to it. Stable bearing material often sits deeper than common repair methods can reach, which is why most Colorado soils are a poor fit for push piers.
The page covers:
- Why Boulder soil makes foundation repair its own problem
- The engineered methods that hold: limited-access micropiles and helical piers, set to a pre-engineered depth on stable material below
- The warning signs worth acting on, from cracks above doors to water pooling against the foundation
- Why bringing in an independent structural engineer first works in the homeowner's favor
- A real example: a Boulder garage piered by another contractor still moves, while the home Van Matre micropiled has not
"We're never going to lower our scope or our standards. If someone chooses us, they're lucky, because we will deliver a great job and the perfect solution," said Brady Van Matre, Founder and Owner.
Van Matre Construction does not install temporary fixes or methods it cannot warrant for life. Every structural solution carries a lifetime warranty, and no deposit is required.
